New guidelines for content

As a direct consequence of the huge decrease in traffic that I've suffered after the Google "roll back" the 22th of July, I've reconsidered guidelines for content on my websites.
One of the most important factors is the length of the content. Untill now I've considered 200 words per article to be enough, but now I believe it should be a bit longer. About 300 - 350 words.
Another important thing is Google's improved spell check, which means that a webside will be considered less relevant if it contains mis-spells.

Therefore lately I've worked hard to write longer articles and eleminate mis-spells on my sites. Hopefully this will help to get rankings back.

New niche project

Some years ago (before I started working with SEO) I discovered a very small but also very interesting niche. I heard about a website in this niche and was surprised how popular the site was. The site got tons of traffic (and it still does).
When I told my friends and family about the site, they were just as surprised as I was. How could a website in such a small niche get so much traffic?
I found out that the site is the only Danish site in this market, so of course that's part the explanation.

As I was busy working with my other sites, I didn't had the time to enter this niche with my own site - untill now! Today I've almost finished the backend of my new site. I just need to adjust a couple of things and make an admin page so that my writers can fill in content to the site.

As the site isn't launced yet, I can't reveal what niche I'm talking about. But as soon as my site is ready I will get back to you and tell you.

Untill that I recommend you think about niches in your country/market. Maybe this can be your easy way to achieve #1 rankings i search engines.

Frustrated over the Google "roll back"?

Well I am! The last couple of months I’ve worked hard at getting more visitors to the travel channel at HEPHEY. Until the 22nd of July it worked very well. Until that date I tripled the number of visitors during the last two months, but after the 22nd of July the number of daily visitors has decreased by more than 50%.

Of course I’ve analyzed this huge decrease in traffic. According to one of my friends, SEO expert Claus Lundgaard, the reason is the "roll back" of the Google Bourbon update in May. So far that’s all I know. I’m waiting for Claus to answer my latest e-mail. As soon as I know more, I will post it here at SimonGlue.com.

Best Regards!
